Support & services

We offer a range of support and services to our course or program participants. These are usually included in the comprehensive program fee. For our customized partnerships and programs, we offer the possibility to add additional services.

INSTRUCTION

Students receive support from the Gustolab International academic advisor and learning facilitator. The learning facilitator to support students in their new life studying abroad and to provide cross-cultural education and mediation. Participants who complete all academic components of courses and/or the internship will receive an electronic “Gustolab International Record of Study. The Record of Study, including program dates, a list of courses they completed (including internship), and grades earned from Gustolab International will be available approximately two - three weeks after the end of the program. The electronic Record of Study will be provided free of charge by email. Program fee usually include:

  • All instructional and support fees including readings
  • Co-curricular experiential activities & practicums such as tastings, cooking, meetings with specialists and experts, service learning
  • Overnight field studies outside of Rome (including accommodations, most meals, & transportation)
  • Project work with local students for projects within courses
    • Fees for the onsite academic internship
      • Customized placement based on your background and goals (Individual Interview, company research, matching)
      • Daily supervision and facilitation: design, tailoring, supervision of research projects and internship, mentoring and tutoring, monitoring fieldsite placement, daily practical support, language and cultural mediation, mediation with the onsite supervisor at the fieldsite, assistance with research projects and assignments. Intern services and learning support services including internship paperwork
      • Italian language instruction (provided by SLDV)
      • Co-curricular experiential activities
      • Internship symposium including activities and tastings

HOUSING

  • Shared housing in the city center (usually shared rooms in furnished apartments)
  • Housing check-in support
  • Housing orientation
  • Housing services including cleaning & maintenance assistance
  • Learn more about housing

ADVISING

  • Pre-departure advising including visa assistance (enrollment letter) and orientation
  • Assistance for finding engagement opportunities
  • Re-entry support

PROGRAM & LOGISTICS

  • Airport reception: group pickup to/from the Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport, and transfer to housing

  • Welcome kit
  • Welcome and farewell group meals
  • City or neighborhood familiarization tour & ice breaking activities during orientation week
  • Internship related transportation expenses within Italy (Academic Internship only)
  • City transportation card
  • Sim card with Italian number (if requested)
  • Free wi-fi on school premises
